Nusquare

Nusquare is a Real Estate App, designed to help individuals with buyings their first property. This project was a school project with General Assembly.

Goals

My goal was to find the issues, fears, hurdles and figure out a way to make the process much easier for people to find out more about real estate and make it easier to invest in real estate.

Interviews

So I decided to start interviewing people at all levels of Real Estates. I interviewed a Profession Real Estate Investor, a Passive Real Estate Investor, A new First Time Home Buyer and a Prospective First Time Home Buyer. I wanted to hear all the different perspectives so I could get a commonality that could be a base line problem for NuSquare to solve.

I synthesized the interviews and found the commonalities between the different individuals. Some of the commonalities that were found were, trying to understand all the cost involved, getting the money in a timely fashion, knowing which areas to buy in.

Project Proposal

The problem that I am are solving is based on the research of the many different users I interviewed. Based on my interviews many people, when first time buying a home, have questions about the process of real estate buying process. But to first get answer to those questions you need to first answer the questions about yourself. This tool will give you a pretty good assessment of where you are. You also be able to search for homes and deals on mortgages.

Persona

Nichole: “I want to buy a property but all the properties in my area are way too expensive. Also, it seems like there is a long list of things to do before you get a property especially trying to figure out the financial aspect.”
Description: College Educated, Currently rents with a roommate, while studying for her MBA and working in Marketing

Competitive Analysis

I was able now to zero in on my competition for this App and see what features my competition offer or don’t offer for their customers.

Features and User Flow

After I came up with a Project Proposal and figured out who my customer was I decided to create a Features list to figure which features are high priority or low priority. After I figured out which features are most important for the app I created a I reinterviewed my user and had them put the features in a user flow they thought made sense.

Wireframes and Sitemap

I then created Wire Frames and a Sitemap to get a better understanding how move the user will move through out the app.

Low Fidelity and High Fidelity

I was able to create some low fidelity screens so that I can start testing with users to see what they thought. The results were great. I was able to see which features to add and what to take out. For example they wanted a way to make favorites when searching for homes. With that information I was able to create high fidelity screens.

In Conclusion

In the beginning I didn’t know what exactly I was building but I learned that after you interview your users and synthesize your research. You can build a tool that your users need and want. Creating this app was completely based on my user and going back to them to what makes sense not to my eyes but through theirs and making something that would be helpful for them.
